Rio Lagartos roadtrip GPX Track
FREE
A casual adventure from Cancun to Merida in Mexico.
Description
Wanna see Flamingos? Sure you do! Follow this route from Cancun to Rio Lagartos where you can find thousands of them.
If you’re lucky the lagoons around the town are filled with them. Otherwise, rent a boat and go find them in nearby Coloradas.
This route has flamingos as its main attraction, but along the way you’ll find a few attractions before ending up in the sleepy town of Rio Lagartos.
Take a different route back through the northern parts of Yucatan towards El Cuyo. Another quiet-ish beach town, before heading back to Quintana Roo and Cancun.
This trip is best done over a weekend or a few days so you can explore the flamingo colonies at a casual pace. Check with the many tour guides there for specific information on where and when to find flamingos.
